Appearance:
A strong straight nose and big black eyes make up the most noticeable features on Kaiji's face, but when you take the whole package into consideration the most noticeable thing about Kaiji isn't even his nose. It's his style, the style that says "I never grew out of the 80's, or at least my mullet didn't". Compiling the atrocious hair-do he's sporting with his wardrobe filled with only skinny jeans, faded T-shirts and an ever present leather jacket Kaiji looks ever bit the rebellious teenager. The constant cigarette dangling from his mouth and mysterious scars on his fingers and left ear help, too.

Personality:

Despite looking like the kid your mom warned you to stay away from, Kaiji truly has a heart of gold, and that's betrayed him more than a few times. Even so, he can't help but believe in people, hoping, rather than knowing, that they're in principle more good than bad. Perhaps this is because he himself can be an absolute dick - he's moody, quick to judge, often does thing he knows are wrong just to make himself feel better, and once he's in a bad spot is likely to say 'fuck everyone else' in lieu of his own problems at the time. Because of this he likes to think when people are bad it's not that they're really bad, just that they're not in a good place at the time. Knowing this still doesn't stop him from coming off as a little prickly to people he's just met - but stick around long enough and it won't be long before his manly tears start flowing.

Though he'd be the last person to mention his good traits (years of feeling like, and being, a loser took it's toll on his self esteem) there are a number of them. He's kind, loyal, and resourceful as hell when his back's against the wall. Though it takes a serious event to make him realize it, once he knows he's in deep shit he'll find a way to get out of it no matter what it takes.

History:
Kaiji was still young when he realized the universal truth about life: money is power. Only the elite, with money to burn, were able to do anything with meaning, or anything fun - and by god, Kaiji decided, I'm going to become one of those elite. Ever since then he's struggled through hardship after hardship, occasionally even fighting against his own inner weaknesses to survive.

During high school he was failing. Like every other teenager he felt the administration was out to get him, adults didn't understand him, school was bullshit and there was no hope for him. But after seeing one of his friends die in an alcohol driven stunt of stupidity, he snapped out of it and realized, "What the hell am I doing with my life?" and got his shit together enough to get accepted into a community college. After attending for a semester he got involved in some seriously shady gambling, and in an attempt to win big lost it all. After that he decided to take the business world by storm, if only to get back at the bastard who had ruined him, and live his life the way he had always dreamed - in the lap of luxury and power.

The first step to getting there was completed when he busted his ass at school, and got a scholarship from evergrove_uni, a most prestigious school. Now that he's gotten here, Kaiji knows he can't fuck this one up.
